Starlink now available

The internet here in Playa Las Tortugas has always been marginal. For years we replied on microwave links to Tepic or Las Varas. When it was good it was good, but it rarely stayed good for long. Meanwhile cell service has also always been spotty in this area - basically you have to know where exactly to stand to get a signal.

But last year Starlink opened-up service to the Pacific coast of Mexico and a few of the villas gave it a try, and it worked great! The speeds are strong enough to stream movies, hold Zoom meetings and do pretty much everything you need. And the reliability has been the best part. We’ve only ever seen an outage when the power is out.

All of this pretty much now makes Playa Las Tortugas the ideal remote work location!
