Playa Las Tortugas Experiences

Mario and his wife Maria offer many enjoyable excursions and experiences for Playa Las Tortugas guests including fishing trips, outings to local villages and nature reserves, massage and horseback riding, as well as essential services like transportation to/from the airport.

Mario has been a caretaker and Maria a local host at Playa Las Tortugas for over a decade. They provide excellent service and have the local knowledge to make your experience an excellent one. Please coordinate your trip through the host of whichever villa you are staying in while at Playa Las Tortugas.

    Markets & Villages

    Whether you’re looking for a local market, lunch or just a sense of local village life there’s a lot to see in Playa Platanitos, Zacualpan, La Peñita and beyond. Mario will pick you up from your villa, take you to your destination and provide restaurant recommendations.

  • Nature Excursions

    Whether you want to hike to the lovely Cascada El Cora waterfall, or cruise the exotic La Tovara reserve estuary, there are plenty of adventures to choose from! Mario will take you to your destination and often accompany you on your hike.

    Boat Rides & Fishing

    Charter a local boat and captain for a fishing session at the offshore reefs, or book an offshore cruise for stunning fresh perspective of Playa Las Tortugas. Mario will take you from your villa to catch your boat at Platanitos and can accompany you on your trip as well,

    Airport Transportation

    Whether you fly into Puerto Vallarta, Tepic or Guadalajara, Mario will ensure you are travel in comfort to Playa Las Tortugas. He will pick you up just outside the airport and help you with you bags.

Transportation Pricing & Details

All prices are roundtrip with a 4-hour waiting time while you tour, shop, eat, or if your flight is delayed. Each additional hour is $10. Transportation is in a Suburban which accommodates 7 passengers, but may be less if there is excess luggage, children’s car seats or large passengers.

Day Trips, Excursions and Experiences

  • El Cora Waterfall

    This includes a drive along the Pacific Coast through mango, jack fruit and banana orchards. The hike is moderately strenuous down to a 100 ft. waterfall. Enjoy a swim and lunch.

    $280 for 1-4 persons. $30 for each additional person.

  • Horseback Riding

    Mario will arrange for local farmers to bring their horses to Playa Las Tortugas. The farmer will guide your party down the lovely, empty beach. This excursion is up to 3 hours long.

    $65 per person

  • Massage

    Maria is a highly trained masseuse. She will come to your villa and set up her table in a place of your choosing - perhaps your open air deck or a cool, dark bedroom.

    $60 per hour.

  • Offshore Fishing

    Mario will drive you to board your traditional “panga” boat in Platanitos. From there your captain will take you out for 3 hours of near shore reefs to try for snook (robalo), snapper and sierra.

    $285 for up to 4 people. Rods and the traditional “Sprite bottle” gear used by the locals are provided.
